A space for connection and relaxation – with exceptional wood solutions

One of the largest suppliers of natural wood materials and adhesives in Lithuania and the Baltic States, Wood Line has specialized for over 20 years in raw materials and products for furniture, interior, and exterior solutions. The company also supplies sustainable and long-lasting materials for decking, façades, and small architectural structures.

According to Wood Line representatives, the greatest challenge in this project was selecting decking wood that would seamlessly blend with the natural landscape and architectural concept—wood that would retain its unique appearance over time and even gain character as it ages. Drawing on its extensive experience, the company recommended Cumaru, a Brazilian hardwood often referred to as Brazilian Teak. This naturally durable wood is known for its striking appearance and strength. With a density of 1085 kg/m³—more than twice that of traditional pine (450 kg/m³)—Cumaru is ideally suited for both public and private spaces that must withstand time with minimal maintenance.

Special consideration was also given to the frame structure, a crucial component for long-lasting and reliable deck performance. Just like the surface boards, the frame must be made from equally durable and stable material. For the "Kopų Žuvėdra" terrace, hardwood was selected for the entire substructure.

Notably, the terrace stands out not only because of the wood used but also due to its unique, non-standard shape. It also features benches made from African Bilinga – another high-performance wood species supplied by Wood Line. With a warm golden hue and vibrant texture, Bilinga is extremely durable, stable (resistant to warping and cracking), naturally insect- and rot-resistant, and requires little maintenance. Over time, it develops a beautiful silvery-gray patina, adding to its charm.
