IPE Wood at the KTU Faculty of Chemical Technology Recreation Area

  • A new recreation area featuring IPE wood decking has been created next to the iconic Faculty of Chemical Technology building of Kaunas University of Technology on

Radvilėnų Avenue – one of the most remarkable examples of Kaunas modernist architecture.

This is one of the most impressive and best-preserved interwar scientific buildings in Europe. Today, it can be admired in a newly revitalised environment where architecture, public space, and natural materials come together harmoniously.

IPE is one of the hardest and densest wood species in the world. This tropical hardwood offers exceptional natural resistance to rot, mould, moisture, and insects, ensuring the long-term durability of the recreation area even under intensive use.

We are proud that this project selected IPE wood – a durable, strong, and aesthetically distinctive material that naturally complements modernist architecture and urban spaces.
